Forward-Looking Radar

Enabling Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and other ADAS functions

Calterah's forward-looking radar solution, developed based on the Alps-Pro mmWave radar SoC, offers outstanding detection performances and meets the requirements of forward-looking radar for L2/L2+ ADAS systems, enabling functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW). The Alps-Pro forward-looking radar solution offers long-range mode (LRR) and medium-range mode (MRR), featuring powerful capabilities in range detection, real-time velocity measurement, azimuth and elevation measurement, angular resolution, and target depiction, helping vehicles to “see” farther and more accurately, thus enhancing vehicle active safety.

*Calterah Alps-Pro SoC family also offers the CAL77S344-AR chip device with (Radiator on Package) RoP®. Working with waveguide antennas, CAL77S344-AR can enable automotive forward-looking radar to achieve a longer detection range, a wider Field of View (FOV), and enhanced angular resolution.

Performance Highlights

Longer Detection Range

Under the LRR mode, radar enabled by one Alps-Pro SoC can detect objects within the maximum range of up to 240 m with high range resolution (0.5 m) and accuracy (±0.1 m) with only around 2 W single-chip power consumption

More Accurate Real-Time Velocity Measurement

The Alps-Pro forward-looking radar solution supports accurate velocity measurement within the range of -85 m/s –85 m/s with high velocity resolution (0.12 m/s under the MRR mode and 0.15 m/s under the LRR mode) and velocity accuracy (±0.03 m/s).

Angular Measurement in Large FOV with High Accuracy

The Alps-Pro forward-looking radar solution achieves higher 2D angular measurement accuracy within a large FOV (azimuth: -60°–60°, elevation: -10°–10°). The azimuth accuracy reaches ±0.1° (@ ±10° FOV), and the elevation accuracy reaches ±0.5° (@ ±10° FOV).

More Stable Angular Resolution with Higher Accuracy

With a high azimuth resolution (2.8°), the Alps-Pro forward-looking radar solution also boasts more stable angle resolution performance.

More Accurate Depiction of Objects

The Alps-Pro forward-looking radar solution outputs dense point cloud data for depicting target vehicles with high accuracy.
